Just released - coming in the FALL of 2013 - LEGO has announced a new programmable, intelligent brick - the EV3

PROCESSOR: ARM 9 processor with Linux-based operating system
MEMORY: On-board program storage including 16 MB of Flash memory and 64 MB of RAM, mini SDHC card reader for up to 32GB memory
PROGRAMMING: front-panel programming interface for direct on-device programming, EV3 software for Computer-to-EV3 programming
USER INTERFACE: illuminated three-color six-button interface that changes color to indicate the brick’s active state, plus a high-resolution black-and-white 178x128px display, built in high-quality speaker
SENSOR/MOTOR PORTS: four input (sensor) ports (1k samples/s) , and four output (motor control) ports.
COMMUNICATIONS: Bluetooth®, and Wi-Fi via a USB dongle. USB 2.0 host allows daisy chain capability, allows Wi-Fi and USB memory sticks. 2 USB ports.
POWER: Powered by six AA batteries or the 2,050 mAh lithium ion EV3 Rechargeable DC Battery
COMPATIBILITY: compatible with mobile devices
