Smalltalk has been near and dear to me for decades. It is a fun environment to work in.

On a hardware spectrum ranging from OLPCs through supercomputers, Smalltalk has been used to solve some of the worlds thorniest problems.

It is the progenitor of Objective-C and a number of other modern object oriented languages.

The methods/interfaces on the various classes are easily available reference implementations for anyone implementing similar types of things.

Once you are accustomed to solving problems using a Smalltalk-ish approach, it is hard to stop.

The solutions tend to be simple, elegant, and durable.
